Roswyn Hakesley-Brown CBE - Chairman

Since 1997, Roswyn has worked mainly as an independent consultant and researcher in healthcare education. She recently developed the smoking cessation syllabus for trainee general practitioners for the Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP) and is currently involved in developing a Department of Health-funded smoking cessation teaching package for inclusion in pre-registration nursing and midwifery programmes.

 

Roswyn joined the Patients Association as a Trustee in 2007 and was appointed Chair in 2008. She is a council member of the Grubb Institute and a regional committee member of the Integration of Refugee Healthcare Professionals (RHPs) in the West Midlands.

 

During her career she has been President of the Royal College of Nursing, a lecturer at the universities of Central England, Wolverhampton and Warwick, non-executive director on the board of the ExtraCare Charitable Trust (care of older people) and has been extensively involved with the integration of refugee healthcare professionals into the health and social care workforce, chairing the UK-wide Task Force for Refugee Nurses. She has also published many articles and books on nursing education. She was awarded the CBE in the 2007 New Year Honours for services to health care.
