Roger qualified as a Pharmacist and worked for Boots for a number of years managing various stores around England. He later joined the staff of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain as Head of Practice and subsequently became the Media and Government spokesman on Pharmacy matters.

Since retirement has served as a Pharmacy Business Development Officer liaising with several PCTs on Pharmacy matters.
